Visitors can observe and learn about Ireland's resident bottlenose dolphins in their natural habitat with Dolphinwatch Carrigaholt. This guided dolphin watching boat trip departs from The Castle Pier on Quay Road in Carrigaholt, County Clare.

Embark on a wildlife adventure with Dolphinwatch by stepping aboard the vessel, Murúch, at the Castle Pier in Carrigaholt. Guests are warmly welcomed by marine biologist Mary Kate and the dedicated crew. Mary Kate leads each journey along the majestic River Shannon to the Atlantic Ocean, in search of Ireland’s resident bottlenose dolphins.

The mouth of the Shannon is a haven for wildlife and is home to flocks of oceanic seabirds, grey seals and even whales. Within this special area of conservation, dolphins are typically seen in family groups. While the aim is to find dolphins on every trip, please keep in mind that they are wild animals and we must be patient.

Dolphinwatch Carrigaholt boat trips operate daily during the season, weather permitting.
