Wild Atlantic Music Tours (WAMT) is dedicated to providing unique cultural tours along the west coast of Ireland. The tours are open to groups and individuals, musicians and non musicians alike. WAMT is passionate about music, culture and heritage and endeavours to provide customers with a rich and fun experience.
On arrival in Ireland, your group is welcomed by a WAMT director and provided with the full itinerary of the tour along with welcoming gifts. By day you will visit important historical and cultural sights of Ireland and by night you will enjoy traditional music sessions. Tours will take in counties famed for their music and rich culture such as Cork, Kerry, Clare, Galway, Sligo, Mayo and Donegal.
WAMT places an importance on the cultural activities of each area they visit and, where possible, arrange demonstrations and talks along the way. Guided tours are provided around locations such as the medieval town of Ennis and Galway City. Guides will also provide insights into historic locations such as the Burren and The Cliffs of Moher. Boat tours to the Aran Islands and Killary Harbour will further enhance your trip. Tours will visit uilleann pipe, bodhrán, flute and banjo makers as well as local craftsmen and women.
Each evening there will be a dedicated music session for the group. Tour musicians will introduce the group to friends and musicians alike, who will share stories and perform their music. These sessions will take place at a time selected between 18:00 and 21:00 and last for about 90 minutes. Tours are limited to one bus to ensure the sessions are intimate and informal. These sessions are designed to finish early enough enabling the group to explore and enjoy further trad sessions in the local areas from 21:00 onward. WAMT will provide information about local sessions to enjoy.
WAMT is proud to have renowned musicians such as Sharon Shannon, Eileen Ivers, Kevin Crawford, Kevin Burke and Socks in the Frying Pan lead the tours. More importantly, the musicians have a strong attachment to the Wild Atlantic Way.
The tour duration is typically seven nights and you can find out more information about the tour options on their website.
