Aultaghreagh Cottage Garden is a beautiful garden, full of colour. The property is set in the beautiful scenery of West Cork, with wonderful views of the Shehy Mountains and Nowen Hill.
The garden contains an informal woodland shade garden with native and other trees as a shelter belt. There are paths through the trees, which are planted with a variety of woodland plants.
There is a large fish pond and waterfall, bounded on one side by a rockery and willow bank. A living willow arbour provides the ideal place to sit and watch the fish swim around the many water lilies. Water overflows into a bog garden at one end.
Visitors will also find a grasses and prairie garden, pergola of climbing roses and clematis, formal box parterre of scented herbs, an annuals border, and one of the main features: large twin borders of colourful cottage style perennials. Aultaghreagh is also home to a raised bed vegetable and fruit garden. There are good paths throughout, making it an easy walk while visiting the garden.
