Just outside of Buttevant in County Cork, visitors can view the remains of the Augustinian priory of Ballybeg. Philip de Barry founded the monastery and dedicated it to St Thomas. The site features a well-preserved columbarium.
About 1230, Philip de Barry founded a priory for the Augustinian Canons in Ballybeg, a village located near the town of Buttevant, County Cork. There, visitors can view remains of the church, three-story tower, and stone coffins. There is also a well-preserved columbarium with a corbelled roof and more than 300 roosts.
