Síomha Callanan: Residency at Triskel Arts Centre, 9 Jan-28 Feb. This artist will explore the island of Cork City centre, walking every street. She will use the Triskel Sample Project Space as a base for research and to plan her eventual exhibition.
Síomha Callanan’s work is inherently linked to her surroundings and, having lived in Cork City, much of her work to date consists of various projects and explorations of the city centre and its peripheries. For this residency and exhibition she has a specific project in mind. Her aim is to walk every street on the island on which Cork City centre stands and take photos of what she encounters.
She'll use the Triskel Sample Project Space as a base from which to go out into the city and make the work. She'll use the space itself to research and plan her walks, to make notes and document her explorations. She'll also use the space to develop these ideas as well as to test out various ways of presenting the work for the culminating exhibition.
