Cloughaneely Golf Club is part of the historic Ballyconnell Estate on the Wild Atlantic Way in northwest Donegal. The well manicured greens, tee boxes and fairways are nestled between the Derryveagh Mountains and the Atlantic Ocean. The course provides magnificent views of Horn Head and the Islands.
The rolling fairways are cut through the mature trees to offer a classic 9-hole parkland experience. The course was designed by Michael Doherty, former professional in the City of Derry Golf Club. The challenging par 70 course is a test for any golfer’s handicap, while offering plenty of scope for the beginner.
Ballyconnell House was built c1763 by the Olpherts, a Dutch family who first settled here in the early 17th century. Their motto, "While I Breathe, I Hope", can still be seen over the entrance porch in Latin.
If you are considering playing golf with friends or arranging a group visit to Cloughaneely Golf Club, it promises to be a challenging and rewarding day out for all. Golf societies and visitors are always welcome.
