Formed in Dublin in the late 1980s, award-winning band Kíla are hailed as one of Ireland’s most exciting and innovative groups. Their ever-evolving sound is rooted in tradition and influenced by music from around the world.
Often described as contemporary Irish World music, Kíla blend Irish melodies and Gaeilge lyrics with whistles, fiddles, Uilleann pipes, and bodhrán, alongside djembe, congas, mandolins, brass, and guitars. With backgrounds in traditional, classical, and rock, the eight members create a dynamic fusion of instrumentals, fiery jigs, and primal rhythms.
The result is a fresh blend of freewheeling instrumentals, furious jigs, and primal rhythms that transcend the traditional boundaries of Irish music.
