Dela Restaurant
Galway City, Co. Galway
Dela Restaurant is located at 51 Lower Dominic Street, Galway city and is just a short stroll from shop street. Serving brunch and dinner, the menu is focused on sourcing, using and sharing the finest Irish ingredients.

Brunch is the new lunch at Dela Restaurant on 51 Lower Dominick Street in the heart of Galway’s Westend. Dela Restaurant has established itself as one of Galway’s top weekday and weekend brunch destinations.

Voted as one of The Top Ten Brunches in Ireland by Hotpress, Dela brunches are available daily. Customers can either eat in or grab their brunch to go in the Dela Brunch box.

Choose from Dela favourites including the Brunch Burrito with scrambled egg, fried potato, cheese, relish, coriander & lime salsa and jalapeños,or for something a little sweeter, the Buttermilk Pancakes all topped with smoked streaky rashers and organic maple syrup. The vegetarian Herb Green Falafel Wrap Salad, sundried tomato, and Tahini yogurt spread will always hit the spot and of course the eggsellent Eggs Benedict Poached eggs with hollandaise on sourdough or brown bread served smoked salmon or bacon. For the real meat lover, treat yourself to the cheese and meat fest with a braised Beef Cheek Melt Celeriac and dill remoulade, Bellingham blue cheese, rosemary jus served on locally produced sourdough bread.

The addition of the Polytunnel under the guidance Dermot Carey (who creates & develops fruit & vegetable kitchen gardens) has had a very positive effect in the restaurant from the kitchen through to the customer experience.

What they paid for organic leaves, edible flowers etc the cost of the Polytunnel will be covered this year. It allows Dela to put quality organic greens on the plate without pushing the menu price out of reach of the diner.

It is exciting to think about the year round availability the Polytunnel will bring to the Restaurant. Certain crops like kale, organic leaves, and artichokes have a limited availability with local suppliers - when growing their own Dela can stretch the window of availability and ensure supply of harder to get veg & leaves. Some of the veg to be planted will include Kale, leaves, kohl rabi, heritage carrots, scallions, tomatoes, various beets, artichokes and celeriac.

So what is the bigger picture for Dela, within 5 years time they are hoping that the new proposed Greenway will be running through the plot (9 acres) and that they will have a sustainable farm, community education programmes and a little brewery.

With energy, ideas and actionable plans happening, Dela is more than one to watch but the one to watch.
