Dugort Beach, Achill Island

Dugort Beach, Achill Island, in County Mayo, is a small sandy beach located in the north of Achill Island overlooking Blacksod Bay. It is a popular beach for windsurfing, swimming, surfing and walking.

Dugort Beach, Achill Island in County Mayo, also known as Pollawaddy or Silver Strand is located at the foot of the Slievemore Mountains, 3kms east of Dugort Village. The machair found here is rich in flora and fauna, and the beach is within a SAC Special Area of Conservation. Dugort is a semi exposed shore with a sandy substrate, rocks and pebbles are deposited on the upper shore at times of spring tide.

Parking and picnic tables are provided, however there are no toilet facilities at Dugort Beach, Achill Island. Lifeguards are on duty during the summer bathing season from June to August. More useful information can be found on the noticeboard located at the beach.
