Ireland's School of Falconry specialise in high quality private one hour hawk walk experiences where you fly the wonderful hawks around the spectacular grounds of Ashford Castle.

Ireland's School of Falconry is the oldest falconry school in Ireland, having been founded in 1999. The school is home to the largest and most diverse collection of Harris's hawks.

During your private Hawk Walk you will learn how to handle and fly the school's Harris hawks. On arrival at the Falconry School you will be greeted by your Falconry Instructor and shown around but, within minutes of arriving, you will be introduced to your hawks and will be setting off around the magnificent woodlands of Ashford Castle to fly your hawks free. As you fly the hawks, your falconer will explain all about the hawk's exceptional eyesight and their speed and agility but can also tell you about the individual hawks that you are flying, their characters and temperaments and how easy or difficult they were to train. All of the hawks are trained by the Falconry School themselves.

Ireland's School of Falconry are very passionate about the hawks and have become very attached to them. Unlike other places, they are unusual in that they never sell them, the hawks are part of the family and are never parted with.

Ireland's School of Falconry are also unique in how often and how much all of the hawks are flown every day, most of your Hawk Walk time is spent with you flying the hawks through the scenic woodlands surrounding Ashford Castle.

You will never forget the moment when your hawk first swoops down from a tree and lands back on your gloved fist. Flying a hawk is an experience of a lifetime!
