Owen Traynor’s Bar & Grocery is a traditional bar which serves a wide variety of alcoholic and non alcoholic drinks. The bar is positioned behind a traditional grocery which sells all kinds of everything.
The establishment welcomes regular customers and strangers endeavouring to make everyone feel at home. Framed photographs and memorabilia line the walls inside and out in the garden where one could spend time chatting, interacting, thinking or simply observing the world go by.
Music plays a huge role in the life of the bar and everyone is welcome to participate. There are regular traditional Irish music sessions on Saturday nights but there have been many spontaneous sessions. There are even spare instruments so people can join in the fun.
The bar is situated at the edge of the square in Oldcastle town which is located near to Fore Abbey, Loughcrew Cairns and many other places of interest. The pub is well established having served the people of Oldcastle and beyond since 1958 and once in Oldcastle it is easy to recognise as it prides itself on the flowers and plants display which seem to bloom all year around. The bar and grocery is open seven days a week and everyone is welcome.
