The total distance of the Grand Canal Greenway is just over 117km. This section of the greenway in County Offaly is 71km, right in the centre of Ireland, stretching from the heritage town of Edenderry to picturesque Shannon Harbour. The trail is very flat and easy to navigate. It has further trails leading from it to Kilbeggen and Lough Boora Discovery Park before it meets the River Shannon.
Explore it's canal bridges, historic lock houses and interesting sites. Stop off in one of the towns and villages along the way to enjoy a well earned break and take in the relaxed pace of local life in the Midlands of Ireland.
