Using all the primary sources including church registers, civil records and census returns, the Offaly Historical Society in Tullamore has compiled a large database of over 1 million entries on County Laois and Offaly families going back over the centuries.
Most of the records pertain to the 19th century but some church registers date back to the 18th century. The centre is in the unique position of having researchers with great local knowledge of the sources and area. Enquiries are welcome through personal visit or by post and email. The centre has a public reading room where there is a wide range of local history material available for study.
