A venue based professional theatre ensemble, Blue Raincoat Theatre Company were originally founded in 1991. Located at The Factory Performance Space at Lower Quay St. in Sligo Town, they provide a broad range of professional arts related support for community and cultural programming, within the immediate region. They implement training, teaching and cultural development programmes with relevant state agencies and third level institutions throughout Ireland.

Blue Raincoat Theatre Company produce between four and six professional productions every year, with an emphasis on staging modern European classics, new writing and new adaptations for stage. They operate a repertory system to tour each of these productions throughout Ireland and internationally.
