Gaulstown Dolmen located a few miles from Tramore, consists of six upright stones forming a chamber with a capstone some 4 metres in length.

This portal tomb consists of six upright stones forming a chamber with a capstone some 4 metres in length. The two portal stones stick out at the front and are at least 2 metres high. Only two of the six uprights support the large capstone.

Dolmens were created between 3000 BC and 2000 BC and are generally held to be tombs, though they may also have had a ritual significance. Dolmen is a large flat stone supported by vertical stones in the form of a portal. Dolmen are the remains of Stone Age tombs after the mounds (or tumuli) associated with them have eroded through time.
