Taking materials from the Women Artists Action Group (WAAG)’s archive as a cue, the talk will focus on the personal experience of Irish women artists working in the context of 1980s-1990s’ island of Ireland and beyond, looking at their collaborative practice and self-advocacy as a strategy to counteract an hostile art environment that was actively excluding women and other minoritised subjects.
