Annie Mar at Triskel Arts Centre, 5 June - 27 July. This artist will use her residency in the Triskel Sample Project Space to explore death and cultural talismanic objects and hold drawing workshops for the "Special Things" Zine.
Annie Mar is an artist and illustrator based in Cork City. During this residency, she will develop a new body of work, using the time to strengthen themes within her practice, centering on a set of drawers and unfinished paintings she inherited from her grandfather’s studio. Through painting and drawing, the artist will explore items connected to her grandfather in this set of drawers and more broadly, how cultures remain close to their dead and the symbolic objects that abet this attachment. The drawers will be installed in the space throughout the residency and the artist will only make use of materials from it throughout the residency.
