Cove Sailing Club in County Cork can be traced back to the 19th century when the harbour was a highway for commercial traffic. People started sailing and racing for leisure purposes and the seeds for today’s club were sown. Today, Cove Sailing Club offers people a mixture of dinghy sailing and cruiser racing. It is a family orientated club with a mixture of children and adults, along with hardened sea dogs that have cruised the south coast for years.
The season starts in May, with dinghy racing every Wednesday evening at 7pm. The regular Friday night cruiser leagues are popular, along with weekend cruiser and dinghy races. The club has a vibrant social scene with an annual table quiz, season launch, mid-summer barbeque and end of season laying-up supper.
Please contact the club if you would like an introduction to sailing, some advice on sailing courses or if you want to join a cruiser to experience the teamwork and intensity during a race. New members are most welcome.
