Inspired by a true story, THE STRAIGHT STORY may lack the darkness found in many of David Lynch’s films but it is utterly charming and many rate it as one of his finest works. It is the story of Alvin Straight, an elderly World War II veteran who discovers his estranged brother has suffered a stroke. With poor eyesight and little money, Alvin decides to make the journey by the only means of transport available to him…by lawn mower.
