In a wild and natural waterside setting, the boutique resort of Coolbawn Quay nestles quietly on the eastern shores of Lough Derg. With a focus on wellness, the entire experience is one of tranquillity and relaxation in harmony with natural healing and rejuvenation practices. The team of therapists and guides are dedicated to guests’ health and wellbeing, delivering therapies, signature ritual treatments and guiding yoga and meditation practices. All treatment rooms have natural light and are discreetly tucked away on the shoreline with doors opening onto a terrace available for post-treatment relaxation.
The heart of the resort is the lakeshore Village with houses and cottages scattered along meandering paths and leafy lanes. This village is complete with a pub and restaurant, suites and cabins for treatments, a glass studio for yoga and private access to the lake for a wide range of water-based activities.
Embracing the natural surroundings, Coolbawn Quay guests can lie in a hammock among the pine trees while watching the world float by or plunge into the lake for outdoor swimming. There is an infrared sauna on the overhanging deck and forest bathing among the trees. Over the water there is a grass roofed cabin for massage and by the water’s edge, there is freedom yoga and meditation.
A natural spring deep beneath the village is the water source and is used in all treatments and throughout the village.
Only the freshest, locally sourced ingredients arrive in the kitchen and form the basis of a balanced, nutritious, contemporary menu. The menus focus on nutrition and the healing power of whole foods and nutritional plant based alternatives. Vegetarian and vegan foods are included in all seasonal menus.
Throughout the year a range of Wellness Packages, to include Pampering Breaks and Residential Retreats are available to book and the full treatment menu is available to view on the website.
Centrally located on the shores of the largest lake the River Shannon, Coolbawn Quay is accessible from all corners of Ireland. For overseas visitors, Shannon is the closest airport, with Dublin and Cork airports are just a little further.
Wellness guests stay in Superior Rooms scattered throughout the village. Each room is individually styled with a lake or garden view and opens onto a small terrace with table and chairs. As part of the Coolbawn Quay Experience is relaxation, TVs are not provided in the rooms. Each room has a Roberts radio for easy listening which can be paired with mobile devices. A robe is provided for comfort during the stay.
