Shannon Airport is located on the west coast of Ireland, with direct flights from the USA, Europe and the UK, Shannon Airport sits in the heart of Ireland’s stunning Wild Atlantic Way – one of the wildest, most incredible driving routes in the world.

Shannon Airport was Ireland's first transatlantic International Airport. Located on the west coast of Ireland, with direct flights from the USA, Europe and the UK, Shannon Airport sits in the heart of Ireland’s stunning Wild Atlantic Way – one of the wildest, most incredible driving routes in the world which stretches from Donegal to Cork on the western shores of Ireland.

Located in Ireland’s western coast, Shannon serves counties Clare, Galway, Limerick, Offaly, Tipperary and the south-west of Ireland. Situated in the heart of the west coast of Ireland, a region steeped in culture, it's the home of Irish traditional music, song and dance, The Cliffs of Moher, Bunratty Castle & Folk Park, King John’s Castle, and the iconic Burren, Connemara and Killarney National Parks of Ireland.

Shannon offers USA bound passengers’ full U.S. customs and immigration Border Control pre-clearance so that you do not have to clear customs at your entry airport in the USA. If you are making a connection in the USA you can check your bags right through to your ultimate destination.

The airport takes its name from the River Shannon which is close by. The nearest cities are Limerick 15 miles to the south and the market town of Ennis 15 miles to the north.

Shannon Airport is an ideal arrival for those wanting to tour the west coast of Ireland. The airport provides on-site car parks with over 3,500 spaces; all major car rental companies have desks in the main arrivals hall. In the departure area you'll find a range of shops, bars and restaurants. The Atlantic Café is open daily from 6am to 10pm and serving bean-to-cup coffees, a selection of soft drinks and a range of sandwiches and pastries. The Limestone Restaurant is a free flow restaurant offering an extensive assortment including beverages from Java Republic Roasting Company, Wok Fusion station, Bottled beers and wines, sandwiches, salads, hot dishes including the popular full Irish breakfast and is open from 6am to 2pm. Shannon is one of the few International airports of its size to provide FREE WiFi internet access throughout the terminal.

Shannon is home to the World’s First Duty Free which was established in 1947 and began as a simple kiosk measuring just a few square metres, selling souvenirs and gifts. The Duty Free shop became an immediate success and has been copied worldwide.
